Photo Shoot: Bitches Drive the Canadian Rockies

The Canadian Rockies, between Banff and Jasper, were filled with tourists. As we drove and hiked along the Icefields Parkway, we were surrounded by families as well as teams of spry, old grandmothers with perfectly applied, bright makeup. Everything directly along the highway seemed like Disneyland for nature: EMERALD WATER! HISTORICAL SWISS CHALET! GLACIAL LAKE! TEAHOUSE!

Well, it was beautiful. It also, luckily for us, required no planning. We drove into Banff and there were clearly marked signs for the over 600-spot campground on a mountain. Signs clearly pointed us to Lake Louise in the morning, then, later, signs led us to Jasper. Campgrounds are marked at exits on the highway. Driving the Icefields Parkway is both gorgeous and stress-free.

And, here are some pictures, in no particular order.

Michelle points to her “sea bear protection”, aka a pin, that consistently warded off sea bears.
